Overview:
HealthSphere is an online community dedicated exclusively to consumer health information. With over 100 million adults in the US alone looking for health information every month, and with 25 million expressing frustration or difficulty finding relevant health information, we have addressed a compelling need with the creation of a healthcare-specific search engine that uses proprietary technology to return only highly relevant results in a unique categorized format sorted by heuristic user activity. We're the only site on the Internet to integrate access to our message boards directly into our search results, making it extremely quick and easy for the user to find exactly what they're looking for, whether it’s evidence-based information or user-generated content.
We have recently released our exclusive Predictive Health Analysis tool that takes basic input from the user, together with non-medical answers to a brief questionnaire and generates a comprehensive health analysis report that specifically identifies potential risks and weaknesses, and provides recommendations that can be used as a preventive tool as well as a roadmap to better health. Many who have used this tool have reported that it is “scary accurate.”
The proprietary technology used for our web crawlers and our sorting algorithm, along with the fundamental basis for our exclusive health analysis tools, provides a distinct and sustainable competitive advantage.
And we have traction. We are seeing excellent placement in organic search results on the leading generic search engines. We also were successful in our first search engine marketing campaigns, experiencing an average click-thru rate of over 7.5% at a cost-per-click of only $0.26.
We have identified several sources of revenue including advertising, lead generation, affiliate programs with revenue share, licensing fees, pay-per-use services and subscription-based services. Revenue for the trailing 12 months was less than $500K and is projected to be less than $500K through the end of 2008, but is expected to increase substantially throughout 2009 as our marketing campaigns expand.
